Christmas Party December 2006

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.
A special thanks to Jean for hosting our Christmas party this year.
We shared a wonderful meal. Wade made a roast and everyone brought a dish to pass. The bead exchange was a sucess and everyone won a gift with the games we played.
A good time was had by all.

Our project this month is a pumpkin bead taught by Jean Perret.
Pattern by Sharon Bateman.
Cost of the class is $10.00. kit fee $5.00.
The kit will consist of a prepared 20mm wooden bead with warp threads added, accent crystals and head pin.
Supplies you will need to bring.
Size 11 seed beads in orange, black and assorted greens.
Needle, thread.

Seed beads can purchased locally at Michaels, Gary's Crafts or Turquoise Coyote.

Our project this month is a right angle weave bracelet with a twist on the surface embellishment taught by Carol Nastasi.
Cost of the class is $10.00
Kits will be available at a cost of $15.00 to $18.00.

Our project this month is a fast peyote bracelet.
Instructor for this month is Beverly Herman. I will show you how to do two rows of peyote at a time adding texture with different size seed beads.

We are going to have a somewhat different meeting this time around. In place of an instructor, everyone is asked to bring a work in progress and whatever you would like to "Show and Tell".

Your help is needed. Please put on your thinking cap and give some thought to what you are willing to share with the rest of us for future classes. If you have anything bead related, such as techniques, tips or new project to share please let us know at the meeting.

Our project this month will a Russian leaf using a two needle technique taught by Sally Forschein. This is a great design. The leaves can be used as accents to make earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

Supplies:
2 colors of size 11 seed beads (main color & accent color)
2 beading needles size 10 or 12
Nymo or Fireline thread

Cost of the class is $5.00.
Kits will be available.

There will be a short meeting to discuss finding new committee members.

Our project this month is a reversible bracelet taught by Jean Perret.



Supplies needed:
Approx. 30 - 6 mm crystals (will make a 7-1/2" to 8" bracelet)
A small amount of contrasting size 11 seed beads
Toggle Clasp
Size 12 needle
Nymo or Fireline thread
The cost of the class: $5.00.

In place of kits, Jean will bring a variety of 6 mm crystals and hanks of size 11 seed beads so you can choose your own colors. The 6 mm crystal strands are approximately $3.00 and average about 50 to a strand. The hanks are $4.00. One hank has approximately 1,200 beads. Jean will also have a small assortment of findings which include toggle and lobster claw clasps.

Discount: A 10% discount to all Bead Society Members.

February 18th Meeting

In the news:
David Fitzwater who donated the cabs for our last meeting suffered a minor stroke at the end of the Janaury. He is doing well and recovering at home. If you would like to send him a thank you or get well wishes I will bring his mailing address to the meeting. Or you can email him.
Sally Forschein is home recovering from a broken leg. She is doing well and looking forward to getting out of the house for our next meeting.

Beaded Valentine Slide Pendant.

For our project for this month we will learn how to make a beaded bezel around a microscope slide. The theme for the slides are vintage Valentine postcards.
Slide size: 1 x 1.9 inches

Class fee: $5.00.
Material cost: $8.00 (prepared slide)
$10.00 (prepared slide with matching seed beads and delicas)

Supplies: Size 11 seed beads and delicas size 11 . Sugested colors, reds, pinks, bronzes, eggshell or black. Size 10 or 12 beading needle and thread.
